MY NEW TABLET

Just purchased a Cintiq Companion (Professional Crative Tablet) from a graphic artist buddy of mine at work. Thought I’d start drawing my graphics with something other than a BRICK. When it comes to drawing, let’s face it, any mouse is nothing more than that… a brick. Ever try painting a cupboard with a brick? Doesn’t work so well. Same with a mouse. So, here’s my first-ever drawing on the WACOM. It took about 27 min in 3 sessions.

MY NEW RIDE

I’ve owned a few A to B’s (beaters) in my life and I thought it was about time I treated myself to something nice for a change. Say hello to “Snow White” (fully loaded Audi A4 S-Line 8sp Quattro Technik). The inside pic is a little grainy. As I was shooting these, I got chatting with my neighbor and lost track of the time and the light (sunset).

PILE” OF BATTERIESJpeg

While waiting for a colleague to return to finish a demo they were giving me of our latest product, I got bored and noticed they had some AAA batteries sitting around. After spending a few minutes and a number of failed attempts to get them to stand it worked, just in time for my colleague to return. They were not impressed and grabbed an AA battery and challenged me to stack it on top of the AAAs. I wasn’t expecting to have any success. Just before I made my first attempt failed attempt I stopped shy of dropping the AA, paused, took a deep breath and steadied my hands. I was quite surprised when it just sat there on top without moving! I yelled out for a cell phone to snap a pic. I decided to run back to my desk to grab my phone but on the way my colleague showed the stack to another colleague who promptly started banging on the cubicle wall to knock over the batteries. I was able to get back in time to shoot this pic before they succeeded in toppling the pile.

PONG-A-LOT

I’m an avid Monty Python fan and couldn’t help coming up with a set of lyrics for the Camelot song based on where I work. Here it is:

The new PONG theme sung to the tune of Monty Python’s Camelot…
================================================================

<Exterior shot of Pong Studios>

Director of R&D,”Behold! The legendary Pong-a-lot!”
Lead C++ Developer, “Pong-a-lot!”
Lead Flash Developer, “Pong-a-lot!”
Quality Assurance Lead,  “It’s only a converted warehouse.”
All Developers, “Shhhh!”

<Cut to the second floor where music and revelry abound…>

<Instrumental Lead-in>

Dut, dudda dut dut dah…

We’re devs of the brown table.
We sleep when’er we’re able.
We write routines, and eat poutine,
and translate with fish-babel.
Arrive late here at Pong-a-lot and
you might not find a parkin’ spot…

<Instrumental Chorus>
Duh da, duh duh, duh duh da, duh duh da, duh duh da,
Duh da, duh duh, duh duh da, duh da da duh duh da.

We’re devs of the brown table.
We trip on network cables.
We swap our screens with bonus scenes
and pop up our wintables.
When things get changed at Pong-a-lot,
we fix this, and this, and that a lot…

<Instrumental Chorus>
Duh da, duh duh, duh duh da, duh duh da, duh duh da,
Duh da, duh duh, duh duh da, duh da da duh duh da.

We’re devs of the brown table,
Our code is mostly stable,
We make a build, the client’s thrilled,
We add our corporate label.

<music stops for baritone singer>
I… like… to… work… at… Pong…a…lawwwwwwwt!

<music resumes>

(Instrumental Chorus)
Duh da, duh duh, duh duh da, duh duh da, duh duh da,
Duh da, duh duh, duh duh da, duh da da duh duh da.

<music fades>

<cut to external view>

On second thought let’s not go to Pong-a-lot.
‘Tis a silly place…

<devs ride off>
